Affordable system. Easy to install. We went all out and got a bunch of sensors, cameras, and smart door locks. I was very pumped about Simplisafe when I first got it, as I had seen many people promote it and be happy with the service. We've been plagued with issues for the past year. 4 1/2 stars. Very effective system that's simple to set up and integrate with smart home, computer, and mobile technologies. Sensors are small and unobtrusive. System can be configured to work well with many different home layouts. I do have some criticisms, though they are "nits" more than actual criticisms, and maybe the system's designers can incorporate these into newer versions: (1) I wish the light on the base were dimmable. It is helpful because different colors indicate different statuses, but it's so bright at night (and blue!) that I had to turn it off so as not to disrupt sleep. (2)

A simple & effective plug & play system. Great for the home security basics. I say basics because there are cameras that can zoom great distances with terrific clarity even at night, these cameras cost hundreds and even thousands and are not a SimpliSafe product. Other than that, there is little to hold back. Monitoring is cheaper than the big commercial alarm companies and SS does not charge if there is an alarm. I bought Simplisafe August of 2020 and have not been impressed. I have GIGABYTE internet with 500-600 mg Download and 35 mg Upload. I was told I could have as many cameras as I wanted but at 5 works so so. If I put more it kept kicking cameras off. I was told it was a bandwidth issue but clearly I have adequate bandwidth. Another issue never resolved is when it detects motion it blocks you from seeing out the camera that is recording until is saves the recording.... Set up was relatively easy and straightforward. Each component is individually boxed with instructions on how to connect them to the base; this information was also included in the instruction booklet. The key pad is very easy to use -- and is removable from its wall mount plate. The phone app is also very easy to use and intuitive. It's obvious the designers spent a good deal of time developing a very user-friendly interface. The system is basically good, but the reason that it is so quick and simple to install is that they leave out many basic and critical installation details in their set-up instructions. Examples include 1) There are sensitivity switches on the motion detectors that help adjust their behavior in the presence of pets to reduce false alarms; 2) There is no mention of how to remove the sensors from the mounting base to change the batteries or adjust sensors (or to add the hard mounting screws that are included without explanation; 3) The reasons and why to invert motion sensors in order to change t

I have had many, many issues during the 1st year. After 24 customer svc calls (that could/should have been 5 call) my system is pretty good-4 months of not being able to sign in and spening 14 hours on the phone to resolve that issue, plus many calls to order other sensors, return sensors that never worked, 1 time a crazy cust svc agent hung up after 90 min of not knowing what she was doing, placing me on hold and freaking out as a I was telling my wife about that bad level of service, then hung up on me (I though I was hold for 20 min when I was complaining to my wife). Overall and for most sensors easy to install, but hardly 35 minutes. Adding outdoor cameras is no small deal, nor was installing the door bell camera in an older house (bad wiring to the old door bell, needed to add an extension to that, then needed to confirm the voltage coming to the door bell-- the transformer was not easily accessible. The Simplisafe door bell itself causes a voltage drop which in my case turned out to be a good thing, because I had a higher transformer voltage and needed to replace the door chime which requires a lower voltage.) The app is slow to load, often has issues when trying to load video from motion notifications. What is the point of telling me there is motion on the front porch if it wont let me watch while it takes video? The sensors are decent, but even the door sensors sometimes dont notice you opened a door for a few seconds. Its an ok system, but it needs improvements. The base siren also is not very loud if you are more than 10 feet away. The app notifies you of updates to features, but the devices dont actually update. The system is pretty intelligently designed. Easy basic setup, sleek unimposing features for the most part, and functions adequately. However, the manufacturer advertises their system with heavy emphases on "no contract", "compatible with Alexa/Google", and "dispatch police/fire when alarms are triggered". System is easy to use. Most of the SimpliSafe products have been very good so far. Monitoring and service has been excellent. Warranty replacements have been outstanding. Only issue I have is that the front driveway 1080p camera, which I installed a few months ago, is mounted approx 10' high on the house under an eave, and views the entire driveway and front yard, and a portion of the street. Overall things have been fine. There haven't been an incidents at the house since the install so I cant say that it is deterring anyone as I do not have the sign installed outside the home. The systems works great overall however there are a few glitches that deduce it from a perfect score. the cameras suck! the cameras are terrible and useless. constantly dropping wifi even when 6 feet from modem. they only detect motion if its within a few feet (maybe 5?), from the camera. you cannot set a camera to record constantly without it being open in the app. more times than not when playing back a recording the first few seconds play then the message something like no more recorded due to wifi issue comes up. the recordings are only 1 minute 5 seconds. if I needed the recording for legal reasons I certainly want more than 1 minute and with these cameras you may have only 5 seconds. whe

They sent me 2 bad cameras (out of four) , I sent them back, they sent me another bad camera, I have a 24 hour monitoring but my alarm has gone off two times and theyve never called to see if anything was wrong theyve never called the police or anything. This system replaced a previous system. While it does the job as advertized, it does not have all the features of my previous system to which I had grown accustomed. e,g, Previously, my system announced which door when someone opens a door; this system just beeps. So, if I set the alarm and one door is not closed, the system just says "sensor open" making me run around to find out which door is not fully closed, which is an irritation. A vast improvement, with just a couple drawbacks.
This system replaced my Gen 1 SimpliSafe system. The design is very much improved! The new keypad with larger backlit keys, a larger display, and a sleeker design is one of the best upgrades to the entire system. The best overall upgrade is the integrated wifi!! No more phone jack or network port on the base station, which doesn't look like one of those old-school air fresheners anymore. Overall, the entire system is much more sleek and modern. I've had a few different systems, each with their own pros/cons. Here is my opinion of SimplySafe... Pros: love that I could put together my own system with the pieces I wanted/needed and that I own it (compared to others where moving is a real pain in the butt). I also really like that you can name the sensors and that it will tell you which door is open (etc.). Cons: Dismal customer service. Be prepared to spend literal hours on hold only to have mediocre service. Overall, for a DIY, its pretty good. The door sensors are great. The cameras are mostly good and the notifications customizable. The motion sensor on the camera Id say work 90% of the time depending on location. Mine are located outside using the outside kit. If there is some distance involved, 20-30 approximately, it gets sketchier. The camera on our doors, but more consistent. Decent enough. Thought it would bbe good for the wife as I have been traveling a bit and want her safe or to at least have a warning if there's a break-in. I also wanted something to warn me if I leave a garage door open as we go to bed. The system does an OK job but the keypads REALLY need a chime/repeat siren. I would give this system 5 stars but 1 thing holds me back. And that is the app. The system is great. I love that I can customize it to fit what I need for my home and safety. However, the app is a pain point. Anyone who wants to be able to see status and control the system from the app all have to use the same login. This is absurd to be. Why can't there be different profiles with different access for the same system? The worst. Not at all ready for prime time. AFter $1500 of professional installation by a certified electrician, nothing but trouble. Duplicate accounts set up: cameras on one account, moniitoring and sensors on the other. Took hours of calls with very cordial, and seemingly trained, CS. To no avail. Last session, a terrifically patient expert for an hour. Diagnosed everything correctly for over an hour of sleuthing. The the call was dropped. He did not call me back and, of course, I had no way to reach him. So, I have to start all over with the next CS call, after I try reinstalling my camera

Very disappointing to say the least. The first two weeks I had the system, two entry sensors were constantly offline. Simplisafe sent me two new ones and the the problem was resolved.. The system worked pretty well for the next five weeks or so, I was very happy. My wife had a key fob that she used to disable the alarm before entering. On a couple occasions we came home my wife disabled the alarm and I checked the app and it confirmed that the alarm was off. The cameras never worked the way they were supposed to. They never recorded if you had the privacy shutter option active. Turned off the privacy shutter, but at 1080i resolution you can only view the first 10 seconds of the 1:30 long video. Knocked the resolution down to 720p and I could then get the first 30 seconds of the video. Once the video hit either the 10 or 30 second mark, the video would freeze and say there was a communication issue between the camera and my router. Now this may sound like my router was the issue but, I could still live stream any of the 3 cameras I had ALL DAY LONG

Easy Install Quality just ok
I bought this for my daughter and her first apartment after college. Installed it my self. The install is fairly easy but the adhesives arent good. So I advise mounting. This is difficult with windows and doors. The parts are magnetized, so that helps. I used the magnetized part on the door but had to mount the other part to the door frame. The other quality issue is the keypad. My daughter has had to change the batteries twice in the first month. There has to be an issue. SimpliSafe says they warranty there products for 3 years so we will be sending this back. The monthly fee is only $15. The

Im enjoying the product! I like the capability to mount cameras and get notifications on my system (wifi or power outage, door entrances, motion outside). It was not the easiest system to install - took several hours. You have to make sure you have power outlets within 15 ft of your outdoor cameras. I would recommend including longer power cords when someone orders the outdoor kit with the cameras. Its also hard to install the door sensors unless you have flat frames. I had to chip away some of the wood on the frame to make it work. I also had an issue with the doorbell, but customer service w

Not so Simple and no HomeKit integration
Not as simple as it claims AND NO APPLE HOMEKIT SUPPORT. After a lot of research, we made the wrong decision and went with SimpliSafe. The videos and online manuals made setup appear simple. We purchased one keypad , 8 entry sensors, motion sensor, doorbell, door lock, and camera. Much of it was very simple to set up and some of it even very impressive. However, it is not even close to being as easy as they make it look. If your able to use a phone app, it is much simpler to setup than naming your devices with the archaic input on the keypad. The cameras are not great. They go offline frequently and you can not see instant playbacks of events. We had a ring doorbell previously and we could immediately see playbacks and the video NEVER went out. In fact, we were able to see our house being broken into when we were 4 hours away through the ring camera. Aesthetically the components are attractive and dont intrude on home decor. Installation is quite easy and pairing devices with the control hub went flawlessly. Instructions are reasonably thorough and well organized. My only negative is that installing an entry sensor on a patio sliding door that opens from left to right requires mounting the sensor upside down, which may in time slide off of its back plate because of gravity and the fact that the friction fit may loosen over time. I think the product is pretty good. I am having some struggles, though. We are virtually unable to use our motion sensors. Despite what I read before purchase about placing the sensor higher on your wall, small cats and dogs on the ground set off the motion sensor constantly. I can't use it as part of an alarm while we're away because it would be constantly triggered. Some of the door sensors are coming loose after about 6 months of use, but this is a quick fix with some new double sided tape. Other features are great. This is one of the worst products I've ever purchased with third-rate customer service. The smart locks are only functional on certain doors and they rely on communicating with a central hub that is susceptible to interference with various networked devices that are in a typical household. But SimplieSafe does not make it clear as to what doors/locks are compatible with its smart lock. SimpliSafe = Simple Quality. All door and window sensors have fallen off after only a couple months. I had to apply my own 3M tape to get them to stay. I have 2 cameras and the video is blurry. It is cool that I can talk on my cellphone through the cameras to be heard in the house, but it is disappointing that I can not hear audio from the house through the cameras on my phone. A 2-way audio system would be nice. Unlike other alarm systems that audible announce which sensor is opened, this system only give the same "chirp" sound for all sensors. Simple. Cost effective.
I was tired of my old provider charging so much every time I needed to add a new sensor. We called about glass break sensors and they wanted $250 for two sensors... Easy To Install But Has Problems
Easy to install for added security. Discovered motion detectors would not stick to wall so used provided screws to make sure they did not fall off in the middle of the night. Also, had two problems. After working properly for months, additional items were listed as being monitored. Kept getting verbal message so I checked the menu and found 3 entry sensors somehow were listed but they were not actually installed. Removed them from the program and stopped getting the notice. Overall things have been fine. There haven't been an incidents at the house since the install so I cant say that it is deterring anyone as I do not have the sign installed outside the home. The systems works great overall however there are a few glitches that deduce it from a perfect score. the cameras suck! the cameras are terrible and useless. constantly dropping wifi even when 6 feet from modem. they only detect motion if its within a few feet (maybe 5?), from the camera. you cannot set a camera to record constantly without it being open in the app. more times than not when playing back a recording the first few seconds play then the message something like no more recorded due to wifi issue comes up. the recordings are only 1 minute 5 seconds. if I needed the recording for legal reasons I certainly want more than 1 minute and with these cameras you may have only 5 seconds. whe

This system replaced my Gen 1 SimpliSafe system. The design is very much improved! The new keypad with larger backlit keys, a larger display, and a sleeker design is one of the best upgrades to the entire system. The best overall upgrade is the integrated wifi!! I've had a few different systems, each with their own pros/cons. Here is my opinion of SimplySafe... Pros: love that I could put together my own system with the pieces I wanted/needed and that I own it (compared to others where moving is a real pain in the butt). I also really like that you can name the sensors and that it will tell you which door is open (etc.). Cons: Dismal customer service. Overall, for a DIY, its pretty good. The door sensors are great. The cameras are mostly good and the notifications customizable. The motion sensor on the camera Id say work 90% of the time depending on location. Mine are located outside using the outside kit. If there is some distance involved, 20-30 approximately, it gets sketchier. The camera on our doors, but more consistent. Decent enough. Thought it would bbe good for the wife as I have been traveling a bit and want her safe or to at least have a warning if there's a break-in. The worst. Not at all ready for prime time. AFter $1500 of professional installation by a certified electrician, nothing but trouble. Duplicate accounts set up: cameras on one account, moniitoring and sensors on the other. Took hours of calls with very cordial, and seemingly trained, CS. To no avail. Last session, a terrifically patient expert for an hour. Diagnosed everything correctly for over an hour of sleuthing. The the call was dropped. Very disappointing to say the least. The first two weeks I had the system, two entry sensors were constantly offline. Simplisafe sent me two new ones and the the problem was resolved.. The system worked pretty well for the next five weeks or so, I was very happy. My wife had a key fob that she used to disable the alarm before entering. The cameras never worked the way they were supposed to. They never recorded if you had the privacy shutter option active. Turned off the privacy shutter, but at 1080i resolution you can only view the first 10 seconds of the 1:30 long video. Knocked the resolution down to 720p and I could then get the first 30 seconds of the video. Once the video hit either the 10 or 30 second mark, the video would freeze and say there was a communication issue between the camera and my router. Now this may sound like my router was the issue but, I could still live stream any of the 3 cameras I had ALL DAY LONG

Easy Install Quality just ok
I bought this for my daughter and her first apartment after college. Installed it my self. The install is fairly easy but the adhesives arent good. So I advise mounting. This is difficult with windows and doors. The parts are magnetized, so that helps. I used the magnetized part on the door but had to mount the other part to the door frame. The other quality issue is the keypad. My daughter has had to change the batteries twice in the first month. There has to be an issue. SimpliSafe says they warranty there products for 3 years so we will be sending this back. The monthly fee is only $15. The

Im enjoying the product! I like the capability to mount cameras and get notifications on my system (wifi or power outage, door entrances, motion outside). It was not the easiest system to install - took several hours. You have to make sure you have power outlets within 15 ft of your outdoor cameras. I would recommend including longer power cords when someone orders the outdoor kit with the cameras. Its also hard to install the door sensors unless you have flat frames. Not so Simple and no HomeKit integration
Not as simple as it claims AND NO APPLE HOMEKIT SUPPORT. After a lot of research, we made the wrong decision and went with SimpliSafe. The videos and online manuals made setup appear simple. We purchased one keypad , 8 entry sensors, motion sensor, doorbell, door lock, and camera. Much of it was very simple to set up and some of it even very impressive. However, it is not even close to being as easy as they make it look. If your able to use a phone app, it is much simpler to setup than naming your devices with the archaic input on the keypad. The cameras are not great. They go offline frequently and you can not see instant playbacks of events. We had a ring doorbell previously and we could immediately see playbacks and the video NEVER went out. In fact, we were able to see our house being broken into when we were 4 hours away through the ring camera. Aesthetically the components are attractive and dont intrude on home decor. Installation is quite easy and pairing devices with the control hub went flawlessly. Instructions are reasonably thorough and well organized. I think the product is pretty good. I am having some struggles, though. We are virtually unable to use our motion sensors. Despite what I read before purchase about placing the sensor higher on your wall, small cats and dogs on the ground set off the motion sensor constantly. I can't use it as part of an alarm while we're away because it would be constantly triggered. This is one of the worst products I've ever purchased with third-rate customer service. The smart locks are only functional on certain doors and they rely on communicating with a central hub that is susceptible to interference with various networked devices that are in a typical household. But SimplieSafe does not make it clear as to what doors/locks are compatible with its smart lock. SimpliSafe = Simple Quality. All door and window sensors have fallen off after only a couple months. I had to apply my own 3M tape to get them to stay. I have 2 cameras and the video is blurry. It is cool that I can talk on my cellphone through the cameras to be heard in the house, but it is disappointing that I can not hear audio from the house through the cameras on my phone. Easy To Install But Has Problems
Easy to install for added security. Discovered motion detectors would not stick to wall so used provided screws to make sure they did not fall off in the middle of the night. Also, had two problems. After working properly for months, additional items were listed as being monitored. Kept getting verbal message so I checked the menu and found 3 entry sensors somehow were listed but they were not actually installed. Removed them from the program and stopped getting the notice.
